Hi Dan, If they'll let me in to Moore, I'll be there. I keep putting off filling out this application. They ask for at least 3 books that have influenced you, but they've left 6 spaces. That means they want more than 3. And you can't include the Bible!
Did you notice that I included 2 out of these three words in my MTS post and subsequent comments. I did that just for you.
I think the answer to your question - and in fact all of your questions (college applications included) is "Mark Driscoll".
Seriously though - that, along with the prophet, priests, kings trichotomy of ministry was one of the big points he brought to Australia (well definitely to Brisbane, but I think his Brisbane stuff was very similar to his Sydney stuff).
I did notice you'd used the words, and I wasn't sure if they were deliberate or not, but thanks for the effort. Next time I publish a list of abused words I'll drop something random like "dugong" into the list, to see if you can work it into subsequent posts.
Driscoll has been a big influence. A good one for the most part. If just for a much needed kick in the pants.
NT Wright would be well appreciated on the list. I really liked his stuff on Paul and Justification. It would be good to list it if you have read it. Especially alongside Piper, Woodhouse, Knox, and if you can before the interview read some Campbell.
On listing 3 books, they just have to influence you. You dont have to read them!! A little trick in the wording. They leave 6 lines if you cannot narrow it down. You dont have to be a nerdberger to get in. I am definately not a nerdberger and I got in. You have all the hope in the world.
It could be that they think they are going somewhere....
ReplyDeleteIt is strange but it is the 'in' thing.
Good to see you blogging. Hope to see you next year at Moore!

He's written more than six books. College entrance should be a breeze.
ReplyDeleteProbably best to throw in some Chapman and Jensen though just to be on the safe side.
Steer clear of referencing NT Wright.
