Abraham and Isaac: Like Father Like Son

Gordo is preaching through Genesis at Lunchtime Bible Teaching. Three times so far we've had occurrences of men trying to pass their wife off as their sister.
Poor old Abimalech fell for the old wifey-sister trick twice. It also shows us that the Old Testament heroes of faith really were a mixed bag - some strong points, some major character flaws.

S and I quite often get mistaken for brother and sister. Probably because for the sake of others we like to keep the PDA's to a minimum. We only get slightly offended by the suggestion of our being related (we're both Anglo, after all). Surely much worse, is the suggestion to siblings that they're married. From experience I say, if in doubt suggest brother and sister.

  1. You bring up an interesting one there.

I actually tend towards public PDAs, within reason and taste, of course. I think it's actually a good thing, for the sake of others.

I know there's points on both sides, and I'm not going to give my wife a big sloppy kiss in front of someone I know is massively struggling with their singleness, but I never hear anyone make the opposite point.
