The best students at Moore College

The best students at Moore College are oftentimes the ones with average grades. I'm not saying this to cover myself in case I'm an average student. I'm talking instead about international students with English as a second language learning Greek and Hebrew (in English). Amazing. There are a number of students in this category in my year at college.

This thought regarding their brilliance enters my head a number of times every lecture because one of these students, in order to ensure he gets the sounds right, likes to repeat the word pronunciation about a second behind the rest of the class. Gibbo sounds the word out, 130 people repeat it back in unison and then one voice says it alone. Every time. But I can tell it's an international student because sometimes he repeats English words back to the lecturer as well. As we finish some out loud reading, Gibbo might encourage us with a "That's good". A moment later the lone voice will strike up, "good". Brilliant. Learning Greek in English while learning English.

Today is Sarah and my fifth day of our Greek intensive. At about 9:13 this morning the Greek we did before college began will run out. On the inside I'm freaking out a little bit right now.
